Canon PowerShot SX70 HS: 65x Zoom Lens and .CR3 RAW Photos

Canon has announced the PowerShot SX70 HS, a new “high-power zoom” digital camera that replaces the SX60 HS.

The sensor has been upgraded to a 20.3-megapixel one with a DIGIC 8 processor (up from 16.1MP and DIGIC 6). In addition to shooting still photos at 10fps (up from 6.4fps), the camera can also capture 4K video (up from 1080p60).

The lens on the front of the camera is still a 211-1365mm (35mm equivalent) lens with 65x optical zoom. The ZoomPlus feature allows you to reach 2730mm with digital zoom.

On the back of the camera is a 0.39-inch 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF), an eye sensor that switches the EVF on, and a 3-inch 922K-dot LCD screen (non-touch).

For photographers who want flexibility for post-processing, the SX70 HS is the first Canon point-and-shoot that can shoot the company’s latest .CR3 RAW format.

Other features include frame grabbing from 4K video, a pop-up flash, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 5-stop image stabilization, and Zoom Framing Assist.

The Canon PowerShot SX70 HS will be available in November 2018 with a price tag of $550.
