NYC Mayor: Take a Photo to Report Social Distancing Rule Breakers
As New York City — the US epicenter of the pandemic — continues to battle the coronavirus, mayor Bill de Blasio is now asking New Yorkers to report people and businesses who are breaking social distancing rules by photographing them.
De Blaiso took to Twitter to share the message this past weekend.
“How do you report places that aren’t enforcing social distancing?” the mayor writes. “It’s simple: just snap a photo and text it to 311-692.”

You’ve done an amazing job [at social distancing],” De Blaiso says. “Now look, thank you everyone who’s done it the right way, but we still know there’s some people who need to get the message.”
So now, when New Yorkers see people getting to close to each other, you can quickly get law enforcement involved by snapping and sharing a geo-tagged photo.
“[…] Bang, send a photo like this and we will make sure that enforcement comes right away,” De Blaiso says. “Text the photo to 311-692 and action will ensue.”
If you’ve been taking walks for exercise and bringing your camera along, know that any street photography of fellow New Yorkers may raise more eyebrows than it did before.
