Dancers in New York City, Shot with a Thermal Camera
Photographer and cinematographer Jeff Hutchens recently filmed a pair of dancers using a thermal camera. What resulted is this ethereal short film titled “X, Y” (Note: certain parts may not be work-friendly).
The film features “lyrically improvised choreography” by dancers Jessica Lamdon and Henry “Ry ‘El” Velandia. It was filmed in various locations in New York City using a FLIR camera to record thermal signature.
“It’s a pretty unusual aesthetic, about as ethereal as it can get,” Hutchens tells PetaPixel.
