Olympus is developing a new M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm f/4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO lens that will make super telephoto handheld shooting possible.

The super telephoto zoom lens features a built-in 1.25x teleconverter — the first of its kind in an Olympus lens — giving the lens a 35mm equivalent range of 300-1000mm. By adding an additional 2x teleconverter, photographers will be able to shoot the 35mm equivalent of 2000mm handheld.

The lens is dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof (14°F/-10°C), and it features in-lens image stabilization that can work in conjunction with Olympus’ 5-axis in-body stabilization.

“The compact system delivers remarkable portability, and the built-in teleconverter provides convenience, making it the optimal super telephoto zoom lens for sports and bird photography,” Olympus says.

Olympus is planning to release the lens sometime in 2020.

The upcoming M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter MC-20 will double the focal length of whatever lens is mounted to it, and it’s dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof (14°F/-10°C) as well.

“Not only does this teleconverter extend the telephoto range, but it also doubles the maximum shooting magnification of the master lens for unprecedented super telephoto macro shooting,” Olympus says.

The teleconverter is expected to launch sometime in the summer of 2019.
